I am so sorry to learn of Miles' passing. He was my first "big boss" after we moved to Nebraska from the West Coast. He was tough but amazing. An awesome cook! I have remembered those days in Financial Responsibility often with a great fondness.

My name is Jim Coffey. I am Miles' first cousin. My mother and Antonette were sisters. Although I have not seen Miles in many years, I did spend a lot of time with him when I was a child. I give my condolences to the family.

I was sorry to read of Miles' passing in the Sioux City Journal this morning. I saw it the Yearbook that his nickname was "Millage", but I never knew him as such.Mi I played football with Miles at Heelan. He was a great high school athlete that excelled in all sports. We did not have high school baseball back then, but I first competed against him in Little League. His Wonder Bread team won the City Championship at Hubbard Park somewhere around 1959 or 1960. Miles was their Ace on the mound. He had some terrific teammates: The Lumphrey twins, Dave & Denny, Phil Kratz, and others, along with Ray O'Conner, who is a legend in his own right out there in Grand Island, NE. The Sioux City Museum is doing a history of Little League in Sioux City, so if Miles saved a photo of the Wonder Bread team, they would sure love to have a copy. Miles was preceded at Nebraska by Mike Grace another Heelan Grad of 1963. Alan Larson was a '66 Sioux City Central grad who also played football for the Cornhuskers. Perhaps Miles shared the field with them a time or two. I did not know Miles' siblings, they must have either older or younger. Again, my condolences to the family, it's always hard to see another Crusader go down. William Burrows, Sioux City

I worked with Miles for many years at the Dept of Public Institutions. He was a tough, smart, but gentle giant and I greatly appreciated his input. His compassion for people with disabilities and there families gave him a great foundation for him to do his job well. My condolences to those who survive him.

Please accept our condolences. Mary and I enjoyed going to the Husker away games together with Miles and Cathy. I worked at LRC with Miles for twenty years. Hearing of his passing is a big shock. Again, we are very sorry to hear of your loss. Terry and Mary Buell Park Rapids, MN.
