Marie Meyers

I am very sorry to hear of Marge's death. We are in Colorado and will be unable to attend her funeral. She was a very important contributor to my life both as a musician and as a person. Not only did she teach me piano; she was a model of grace, kindness, elegance, and talent. As a young person, I remember sitting in her living room waiting for my piano lesson. The books on the tables included Bess Streeter Aldrich, of course, and also Mari Sandoz, and Willa Cather. I learned what it was like to be in a beautiful space and hear beautiful music. As a young person when I was playing the organ at church, I remember her explaining the words of "O Sacred Head, Thou Wounded" to the choir, so they would sing it with more meaning. It was the first time I remember that technique being used with a choir. In 2013 when she and Dwight moved to Lincoln, Nancy Anderson and I were invited to sort her music and take what we wanted. I have used many of the pieces that I received then. It gives me great joy to see her signature at the top of books and pieces as well as her pedal markings, dynamic changes, and instructions in the music. She was always encouraging and excited to see Nancy and I at the Elmwood Memorial Day Services, funerals at Elmwood, or events at the Grand Lodge. She will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, Marge Clements. Job well done!!

Mariel Meysenburg

Marge was my piano teacher for many years and I credit her excellent teaching and interest in my becoming a piano major at the University of Nebraska. I taught piano for many years and never forgot my first piano teacher. She was a lovely person and role model in my life. My sympathy to her family. Mariel (Stock) Meysenburg
