Obituary

Obituary for Dixie Baxter (Shrader)

Dixie Ruth Shrader Baxter was born March 5, 1935 near Nehawka, NE to Mont and Dorothy Shrader. She passed from this life in to heaven on July 15, 2019. She was baptized in the Weeping Water First Christian Church with her six siblings. She attended school at Glendale through the 8th grade and completed high school in Louisville, NE in 1954. She met Buster while in high school. He was driving a tractor (barefoot) down a muddy road and he offered her a ride. They dated for 2 years before becoming engaged and then Bus was sent off for 2 years to serve in the Army. He corresponded, at times, on bubble gum wrappers as that was all that was available while on maneuvers in the field. During this time Dixie worked in Lincoln at State Farm.
They married on March 3, 1957 and from this union 4 children were born: Russell Allen, Marvin Wayne, Karen Ilene and Scott Duane. They lived in Lincoln for their first year, then moved to a farm in Otoe County where they began their farming career. In 1962, they moved to their current residence on a farm near Murray.
Dixie was always non-stop. She was a dedicated farm wife which included many meals for hired men, lunches to the field, and multiple farm chores. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, member of the Baxter Auction team, cleaned houses and was employed at Pamida in Plattsmouth. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bellevue.
Dixie believed that no one should go hungry. She always took more than necessary to any family function, fed friends, Scott and football teammates, and anyone who happened to drop by.
She loved her flowers, watching and feeding her birds, her dog Shadow and listening to her favorite music.
She is survived by her husband Buster, children Russ (Diane) Baxter, Marvin (Kris) Baxter, Karen (Brad) Roberts, Scott (Tamra) Baxter and 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters Juanita Kapustka, Wanda Conradt, Angeline Meyer, and brother Vince Shrader, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mont and Dorothy Shrader, brothers Charles Shrader and Jack Shrader.

I was saddened to hear about Dixie. (My second mother)

John 10:27-29 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

Dixie and Buster were always kind and generous. I pray that Buster, Russ, Marv, Karen & Scott as well as the extended family are comforted in the true living words of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Dixie is home.
